The Atwater Music Program boasts an eclectic collection of music and performing ensembles dedicated to promoting the continued music education of all students, regardless of their skill level, grade level or desired involvement!

Atwater Falcon Marching Band

The Atwater Falcon Marching Band is comprised of marching musicians and our marching colorguard.  Training begins during Band Camp (1 week before the start of the school year) and continues through the Saturday before Thanksgiving Break.  The Falcon Band has a long tradition of excellence and is highly regarded as one of the most competitive ensembles in the Northern California Band Association.  After-School commitment is limited so that our students can continue to explore other interests, such as sports, clubs and college courses.  Click HERE (coming soon) for more details!

Street Percussion

The Atwater Falcon Street Percussion is comprised of excellent musicians who are interested in performing a percussive instrument outside of their marching instrument. Training begins during the Summer and continues throughout our Fall Season. Practices are during the evening throughout the week to allow for our members to commit in to other interests outside this program.

Colorguard

The Atwater Falcon Colorguard is comprised of talented performers who take time outside of school to perfect their art. Their training begins during the summer and continues throughout the fall season. Our Falcon Colorguard has a long a strong habit of holding excellency and is highly referred to as one of the most competitive groups in our category.

Concert Band

The Concert Band is designed for members that are new to the band realm and focuses on the fundamentals of music making, such as rhythm development, pitch identification, and all music-literacy as it pertains to wind and percussion playing.  The Concert Band rehearses during the school day and focuses on grade 2-3 music for performance at concerts.  Advanced players may be a part of this ensemble to learn a secondary instrument or learn music-instructing techniques.

Wind Symphony

The Wind Symphony is designed for grades 10-12 and focuses on more advanced music-making techniques for winds & percussion.  The ensemble continues music literacy from where the Concert Band curriculum leaves off & performs Grade 3-4 music, both in concert and at festivals.  The Wind Symphony is split between 2 class periods for more individualized instruction.  Entry into the Wind Symphony is by audition & demonstration of mastery of all Concert Band objectives.

Patriotic & Christmas Bands

These volunteer, community ensembles rehearse minimally during 0 period & after school as needed & performs for community events in Atwater, such as the September 11th & Veterans Day Ceremonies as well as local Christmas events.  Rehearsal time is very limited, so individual practice & high levels of musicianship are required.  Students earn Community Service points for participation in rehearsals and performances.

Wind Ensemble

The Atwater HS Wind Ensemble was created in 2017 for top-chairs of the Wind Symphony & Concert Bands.  This ambitious ensemble performs Grade 4-5 music at concerts and at festival.  The Atwater HS Wind Ensemble prides itself in commissioning new works by current, working composers and continues to explore new and experimental music.  Rehearsals occur during 0 Period or after school.  Rehearsal time is limited, so a high level of musicianship and practice at home is required.  Entry is by audition only.
